Inspiration comes to me in many different ways. The sources of inspiration and motivation that mean the most to me come from may different and distinct sources. Each source needs to be dealt with independently.
1. Quick Thoughts or Quotes
I like the quick thought or story because they make me think. Not just about life, but think of solutions that are not always apparent. The stories stay with me longer than a quote. The shorter the story the better. I like stories that compare one thing with another. They rattle around my brain in spare moments, and give me something to ponder about. I have developed an extensive collection of these thoughts and quotes. This is what my 1minutemiracle.blogspot.com site is all about.
It is called the 1 minute miracle because it only takes 1 minute to change your thinking. When the right story or thought is pondered, life gets better. They can provide a break in a hectic problem ridden day.
2. Religious
We live in such a beautiful world, a world that abounds in such wonders that there has to be a creator. I found him, and know that he cares. I have an intimate relationship with him. When I feel his presence, I am happy, motivated, inspired, full of joy, and want to do better. If you do not have a relationship with him, I frankly feel sorry for you. I talk to him and he talks back – it’s wonderful!
3. Service
There is something about giving of ones self to benefit others. The feeling of helping someone is marvelous. It is infectious when done right. Service allows us to forget about our own problems for a moment. I am actively involved in the Boy Scout Movement (council, district, and local levels). It is one of my greatest joys. Help your neighbor or get involved with a non profit organization. You will be surrounded by people who are there because they want to be there. It is so different than work.
4. The Wild Places
I love the great outdoors. It does not take much of an excuse to get me into the mountains. I enjoy camping, hiking, and 4 wheeling. My favorite places to go are the Uintah National Forest, Arches National Park, Dead Horse Point, Yellowstone, Mt Timpagnoos, and Great Basin National Park. And when you have 4x4 you can get up and away from it all.
Of course there are thousands of combinations of the above, and they are not mutually exclusive.
